Pursuit of Halifax bank robbery suspect turns into police chase

The pursuit of a bank robbery suspect in Halifax turned into a police chase, Tuesday morning.

Police say The Bank of Montreal was robbed on Mumford Road, June 30.

The suspect was spotted in a stolen car around 11:20 a.m., Tuesday, on Windmill Road in Dartmouth.

Officers tried to stop him but couldn’t as he sped toward Magazine Hill.

Police followed at a distance until the driver got onto Highway 102.

Then officers ‘actively pursued’ the vehicle until it stopped on Beaver Bank Road.

A 51-year-old man was arrested.

Charges are pending.
