Charges laid in trail collision that injured two in Inverness County

A Harbourview man is facing charges after a side-by-side collision on the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail near Inverness County.

The crash happened on May 22 around 6 p.m. when two side-by-sides collided head-on while travelling in opposite directions. One vehicle rolled down an embankment, injuring two women. The driver of the other side-by-side left the scene without offering assistance.

Both women were later treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

On June 16, Inverness County District RCMP charged a 38-year-old man from Harbourview with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on August 19.

The investigation remains ongoing.
