DNR looking for coyotes near Canso waterfront and areas

Efforts will be ongoing Monday, to not only find a coyote around the Canso waterfront but manage coyotes in other areas as well.

According to MLA Greg Morrow, The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says they are very interested in continuing to support the municipality with their concerns regarding coyotes.

“Considering the nature of recent reports and the upcoming festival, more staff from the department will arrive in the community on Monday, July 14. Staff will work to locate and manage the coyote near the waterfront, be a presence for other concerning coyote activity, and assist continued public education efforts. If appropriate, these efforts may include hazing,” says DNR.

In addition to that, DNR can provide a Nuisance Wildlife Permit to Canso if there is interest in trapping the animals on municipal property.

Permits are assigned to the owner of the property.
