Utility to truck in water for St. Peter’s, Samsonville and area

Despite conservation efforts by some in Richmond County, more water is needed — and that will cost more for residents and businesses.

In a Facebook post, the St. Peter’s, Samsonville and Area Water Utility says not everyone is working toward maintaining enough water for basic necessities.

It says as daily flows remain higher than the amount their wells can produce, their tank level continues to decrease.

Staff are making arrangements to bring outside water into the system.

The utility says each delivery is about $1500 and last year they took in 11 loads of water.

It says extra costs like these add to long-term rate increases for all utility customers.

A mandatory water conservation order has been in effect for the area since August 5th due to the extremely dry conditions this summer.
