There is a two-hour planned power outage for parts of western Cape Breton on the long weekend.
Nova Scotia Power says it’s so crews can make critical repairs to the main transmission line running from Whycocomagh to Cheticamp. The utility says this work will improve reliability of service for customers.
The scheduled overnight outage will be Sunday at 11:59 p.m. to Monday at 2:00 a.m.
It will impact roughly 9000 customers in the following areas:

- Gillisdale

- Lake Ainslie (East/West/North/South)
- Little Narrows
- Mabou (including West Mabou)
- MacKinnon’s Harbour
- Malagawatch

- Margaree (Centre, East, Northeast, Southwest, Forks, Harbour, Upper, Valley)
- Middle River
- Orangedale
- Ottawa Brook
