A new community fire hall in Hadleyville was broken into over the holiday weekend.
According to a Facebook post by the Seven Communities Volunteer Fire Department, no firefighting equipment was stolen.
Gasoline and diesel were taken, including the department’s backup fuel supply, as well as donated items that had been collected for an upcoming open house.
Damage was also reported at the point of entry.
“We’re heartbroken, frustrated and angry that this happened, but thankful that our essential gear was left untouched,” the post said. “To whoever did this, you didn’t just break into a building, you disrespected an entire community that shows up day and night to protect others.”
