A former minister is disappointed about losing his seat after a recent cabinet shakeup.
MLA Trevor Boudreau lost his role as Minister of Energy, when Premier Tim Houston took on the role himself.
Boudreau was one of three ministers to lose their roles.
In an email to our newsroom, he tells us he was deeply passionate and committed to the portfolio.
“I serve at the pleasure of the Premier, and I fully support his vision for advancing our natural resources and energy sector,” shared Boudreau.
Houston has shown interest in the energy sector, especially with the new Wind West initiative.
That project is designed to utilize offshore wind from Nova Scotia’s coast and can potentially to generate enough electricity to cover nearly a quarter of Canada’s total needs.
After the change, Houston met with Ontario Premier Doug Ford to sign a memorandum of understanding for the provinces to work together on progressing nuclear energy.
Other positions Boudreau’s held in office include Minister of Community Services, Minister responsible for L’nu Affairs, and member of the Treasury and Policy Board.
He became the MLA for Richmond County in 2021 and will remain in that role.
