Man arrested after allegedly stealing Jeep, carrying replica gun

One man faces charges after police found a stolen vehicle and seized an imitation gun.

The RCMP says a 2013 Jeep Patriot was reported stolen from Stewiacke on Wednesday.

Officers spotted it on Friday around 10:35 p.m. in Brookfield.

They followed the car to Meadowvale Road in Upper Stewiacke and pulled it over.

They arrested the driver, a 28-year-old man from Truro, and the passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Onslow. The passenger was later released without charges.

The man had the imitation firearm when he was arrested, police say. He faces charges for breaking a release order, theft, and creating an imitation or replica firearm.

The man remains in custody and will appear in court later. The investigation continues.
