Snow could cause messy drive to work Monday

Get ready for a messy drive to work Monday morning.

Environment Canada says the whole province could get between 5 and 15 cm of snow from Monday morning into Monday evening. Special weather statements are in effect.

It will be especially messy Monday morning for central Nova Scotia, with the highest snowfall totals likely to hit Cape Breton. The island will also get some intense wind gusts, with speeds reaching up to 70 km/h.

The wintery weather is coming from an Alberta clipper, according to Environment Canada.

They say strong northeasterly winds will start developing over Cape Breton and the Northumberland Strait on Monday afternoon, and it brings a risk of snow squalls and blowing snow at times on Monday night.
