Support Antigonish library and actors at fundraiser event

An Antigonish library group and actors are putting their creative arts together for a joint fundraiser.

The Play with Books event is happening Saturday, March 7 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The People’s Place: Antigonish Town and County Library.

Friends of the Antigonish Library (FoAL) are excited for Festival Antigonish Actors to bring children’s books to life.

FoAL Board Member, Molly MacIsaac tells us the ‘pay-what-you-can’ fundraiser will go towards the Antigonish Public Library and the Bridge the Bauer Campaign.

“Even if you just want to pop by, I think it’s just a great way to support two really good causes and support the local library. It’s a time when I think the library is going to be depending on its patrons and depending on the public and public donations a lot more, more than ever before,” says MacIssac.

She explains how the Festival Antigonish Actors will act out some classic children’s books.

“They’re going to use their amazing theatre and voice acting skills and they’re going to be reading books like Where the Wild Things Are, A Little Blue Truck, that’s sort of a modern classic, Goodnight Moon, Dr. Seuss, Robert Munsch,” she shares.

There will also be arts and crafts activities, bake sale goodies, handmade bookmarks, door prizes, and a movie screening.

This event follows provincial budget cuts for the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library (PARL) and all libraries across the province.
