Two youth athletes have been added to the Port Hawkesbury Sports Wall of Fame.
Keiran Madden and Avah Landry were presented with their awards at yesterday’s council meeting.
Keiran Madden
The Town says Madden is an accomplished athlete who is committed to volunteering within the local sports community to mentor and encourage young athletes.
He plays baseball, softball, hockey, soccer, basketball, badminton, and table tennis.
His accomplishments from the 2024 to 2025 school season include:

Madden also volunteers at Whitty’s Sports Camp and helps coach 8U baseball.
He has played baseball at provincial and national levels and represented the Cape Breton Ramblers at the Senior Little League Canadian Championships.
Additionally, he was a member of the Sydney Blue Jays U18AA team that took home the 2025 Provincial Championship and advanced to the Atlantic Championships.
In September, he will be attending the Powerline Technician program at Nova Scotia Community College.
Avah Landry
Landry has demonstrated exceptional leadership and athletic excellence, while being dedicated to growing opportunities in the community for young athletes, according to the Town.
She plays soccer, softball, and hockey, and earned the Top Offensive Player award for hockey during last year’s school season.
Her volunteer time includes assisting with the introduction to baseball program called “Girls at Bat” and helping coach practices for the U13A Pirates.
On the ice, Landry was Captain of the Cape Breton Lynx U18AAA team in the Maritime Girls Hockey League, where she was the leading scorer for the team ending up in the top five scorers of the league, and was also named a First Team All-Star.
She was selected to be a team lead for the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program for U16 Female Hockey, which highlights her leadership abilities and elite level of play.
This fall, she will be taking the Bachelor of Science in Medical Science program at Dalhousie University.
The Port Hawkesbury Sports Wall of Fame sends their congratulations to Keiran Madden and Avah Landry for their well-deserved honour.
