Air Canada flight headed to Halifax lands in Boston due to medical emergency

An Air Canada flight that was on the way to Halifax, made an emergency landing in Boston Logan International Airport when the pilot had a medical emergency.

In an email to Acadia News, Massachusetts State Police say it happened around 1:40 p.m., Wednesday, on an aircraft that departed from Newark, New Jersey.

In a statement, Air Canada tell us reports say the captain was removed from the flight deck “as per safety protocols”. The first officer of the plane then took over.

“The flight landed without issue and the crew member was transported to a Boston hospital,” say police in an email.

There were 61 passengers on board the aircraft, a De Havilland Q400.

State police say no further information is available at this time.
