A chance to celebrate the new Baddeck Waterfront Boardwalk.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be July 16, at 2 p.m.
The boardwalk committee says it marks the completion of a “significant public infrastructure project” to replace the original boardwalk that has served the community since 1990.
The $3 million dollar project was an investment through the federal government, province, Victoria County, Village of Baddeck and other donors.
It will expand public access to the Bras d’Or Lake, has a wider waterfront promenade, enhanced lighting, comfortable seating and steps that “invite people to experience the Bras d’Or Lake to the water’s edge.”
“The Baddeck waterfront is at the heart of the community, bringing people together and showcasing the beauty of the Bras d’Or lake to visitors from near and far,” says MP Jaime Battiste.
Jennifer MacDonald, chair of the Baddeck Village Commission says the waterfront has always been where people come together.
“The new boardwalk builds on that tradition while creating new opportunities for people of all ages to gather, connect and experience the waterfront,” says MacDonald. “It is something our entire community can be proud of.”
