West Bay man faces additional human trafficking charges

A West Bay man already charged in a human trafficking investigation is now facing additional charges.

Inverness County RCMP announced the new charges Wednesday, August 5, as part of an ongoing investigation involving 63-year-old Hubert Alexander Matthews.

Police say human trafficking can involve coercion, control, or manipulation that compels someone to do things against their will for another person’s benefit.

Investigators believe there could be more victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information is being asked to contact their local police department or the Nova Scotia Human Trafficking Hotline, which is monitored 24/7 by a police officer, at 902-449-2425.
