Nova Scotia Power changes back Lake America on outage map

Nova Scotia Power says the issue of Lake Ontario appearing as Lake America on their outage map Monday, has been resolved.

The landmark’s name changed on their website after President Donald Trump signed an executive order last week to change the name amid a trade war with our country.

Lake America also appears on Google Maps.

The dispute began when Canada walked away from a trade deal that it says attacked our sovereignty.

The U.S. says they will impose 50 per cent tariffs on Canada across the board, which Prime Minister Mark Carney says he will match dollar for dollar.

It also started a war of words between Trump and Ontario Premier Doug Ford, which kicked into high gear when Trump changed the name of the lake.

Ford made the latest move in the back and forth over the weekend when he installed a massive sign on Saturday at Lake Ontario saying the body of water had that name “now and forever”.

Ford has also called Trump a “loser” and flat out told the president to “kiss my a–” as a press conference. Trump fought back saying Ford’s words were “bluster”.

Tariffs are expected to take effect on September 8.
