Eleven Quad Counties’ residents win provincial volunteer awards

Eleven residents of the Quad Counties have been honoured by provincial officials as part of their 44th annual Provincial Volunteer Awards.

Provincial officials say this is the first time in the history of the program that members of Mi’kmaw communities were honoured, including three winners selected from the Quad Counties.

The winners were announced in Halifax Monday.

The winners and their communities are listed below:

Glenn Terris | Municipality of the County of Antigonish
Diane Paul | Paqtnkek First Nation
Russell Richard | Municipality of the District of Guysborough
Edith Auton | Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s
Jacqueline Stoyles | Town of Mulgrave

Kelly McIntyre Hayes | Town of Port Hawkesbury
Debbie Samson | Municipality of the County of Richmond
Lori Doucette | Potlotek First Nation
John Joe Gillis | Municipality of the County of Inverness
Steven Googoo | We’koqma’q First Nation
