A COVID Surcharge may be coming to a receipt near you

We’re starting to see a shift towards our “new normal.”

Businesses are opening back up or working on plans to do so, some employees are being called back to work or seeing an end to working at home (this coming Wednesday for me)

But it won’t be like before. New safety measures will be in place and those mean more expenses for the business.

A user on Twitter posted a photo of a receipt from a restaurant and she seemed to take issue with the $2.19 “COVID Surcharge”

Via Twitter @talialikeitis

When you consider the cost of:

Hand Sanitizers

Disinfectant

Protective Screens

Extra time spent cleaning

Gloves

Training

Retrofitting areas

Yada, yada, yada.

$2.19 doesn’t seem so bad, does it?
