Fire crews respond to Port Hawkesbury fire

Members of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the town.

Firefighters were called at 3:20 a.m.; they spent roughly four hours at the scene.

Port Hawkesbury RCMP and paramedics also responded.

Curtis Doucet, the chief of the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department, tells The Hawk the home suffered major fire and smoke damage.

Doucet says no one was home when the fire started, and there were no injuries.

He says there’s no word on the cause at this point, but the fire marshall has been called in to investigate.
