Teen arrested in Sherbrooke knife incident has charge withdrawn

A suspect from Guysborough Co. arrested after Sherbrooke RCMP responded to a knife threat on a school bus has had his charge withdrawn.

Police say they were called when four students were threatened with a knife on a bus to St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy in October.

They say no one was hurt; the knife in question was a folding utility knife.

A boy, 17, who can’t be identified because of his age, was charged with assault with a weapon.

He entered into the province’s Restorative Justice Program in November; he completed the program, and the Crown withdrew his charge during a status update in youth court in Antigonish Wednesday.
