Suspect in Operation Halfpenny expected back in court

A man from Richmond Co. arrested following an alleged conspiracy to import cocaine is scheduled to return to court Wednesday.

Andrew Francis Frank, 59, of West Arichat has been charged with seven drug-related counts, including two counts each of trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; he’s expected for an election-and-plea hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.

Police say they made six arrests in connection with Operation Halfpenny in February.

They say officers discovered a plot to import more than a tonne of Colombian cocaine a year-and-a-half earlier.
