The game featured five local players- St. Andrews’ Declan Smith, who was named the game’s first star, and Beaver Meadow’s Ryan MacLellan for Cape Breton, and Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake Stewart and Newtown’s Stephen Fox for Moncton.

The Screaming Eagles (17-18-3), who snapped a two-game losing streak, are 13th in the 18-team league with 37 points, two points behind Moncton for 12th, and two points ahead of 14th-place Baie-Comeau.

Cape Breton has won four of the first five games in the season series between the Maritimes Division opponents.
