NSP non-permitted work results in 2 hour Causeway delays

Provincial officials say today’s Nova Scotia Power work conducted at the Canso Causeway was done without the proper permits.

Traffic was down to one lane at the Causeway with no advance warning this morning and a boat came through the Canal to further add to the delays and backlog of traffic.

Some motorists say they waited as long as two hours.

Officials with the province’s department of transportation say Nova Scotia Power representatives did not have the proper permit for the work.

They say a traffic control plan must be in place whenever work is being done at the Causeway that will impact motorists and that Nova Scotia Power reps have been told to stop work until they have the proper permits in place.
