Police seize handgun, ammo, baseball bat and knife following Antigonish Co. reported threat

RCMP say they responded to a complaint of a threat involving a gun last week.

They say a man threatened a woman in Antigonish just before 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12.

Police say the man told the woman he had a gun in his vehicle.

They say they seized a .22 calibre handgun from a backpack in his vehicle, ammo, a baseball bat and a knife.

Police say John Francis Gerroir, 54, of Antigonish, was arrested outside of a Braemore Ave. home and has been charged with several firearms offences, two counts of criminal harassment and one count of uttering threats.

RCMP say he was held in custody following his arrest, prior to appearing before a judge Monday; he’s been remanded until an expected appearance in Antigonish Provincial Court Feb. 14.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
