St. Andrews’ Declan Smith, Cape Breton’s captain, received a game misconduct for staged fighting nine seconds into the third period; River Denys’ Colten Ellis made 23 saves for Rimouski.

The Screaming Eagles (5-6-1), who have won back-to-back games, are in a seven-way tie for eighth in the 18-team league with 11 points, three points behind Moncton and Chicoutimi, who are tied for sixth, and four points ahead of 15th-place Saint John.

Cape Breton sweeps the two-game season series with Rimouski 2-0.
