Inverness Co. man facing firearms, drug counts has case adjourned

A man from Inverness Co. charged with firearms-related offences and a drug count following the search of a home is scheduled to return to court in the new year.

Police say officers and members of the Inverness/Richmond RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit seized marijuana, five rifles and ammo when they searched a St. Rose home in Oct. 2017.

Joshua MacNeil, 39, originally faced multiple firearms-related charges and one count of possession of marijuana.

MacNeil, whose case opened in December, is going through Restorative Justice on the drug charge, and was expected for a status update on that matter in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Tuesday; instead, the hearing was adjourned until Feb. 27.

He had two firearms charges- unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm- referred to Restorative Justice during an election-and-plea hearing in July; the Crown withdrew his remaining firearms counts.

MacNeil is scheduled for a status update on his remaining firearms counts Jan. 15.
