Cheticamp break-in suspect sent for assessment
A man arrested in connection with several break-and-enters in Inverness Co. has been sent for an assessment.
Police say a man broke into businesses three times in January and once in December.
They say he broke into restaurants in Cheticamp and stole alcohol, with one case involving thousands of dollars in damage.
Joseph Maurice Larade, 52, of Cheticamp faces four counts of break-and-enter, four counts of mischief over $5,000, three counts of theft under $5,000, a possession of a break-in instrument count and two breaches.
Larade, who was held in custody following his arrest, appeared in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.
He was sent for an assessment, and is scheduled to return to court for a not criminally responsible hearing Feb. 19.
