The Antigonish Bulldogs will try to take a commanding three-games-to-one series lead when they host the Strait Pirates in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs Thursday night.
The Pirates won the opening game of the best-of-seven, Sid Rowe Division semi-final Friday night; the Bulldogs won the next two, game two in Antigonish Sunday and game three in Port Hawkesbury Tuesday, to take 2-1 series lead.
Dave Synishin, Antigonish’s head coach, tells The Hawk their physical play has been the difference through the first three games.
“We’re a completely different team than we were through the regular season, and that’s just part of the process,” he says. “The boys just have bought into what we felt we had to do in order to be successful against Port Hawkesbury, and they’ve been doing it so far- it’s been certainly (a) fun, physical series, and pretty good games for the the fans to watch.”
Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 7 p.m.
If the Bulldogs win, they’ll have a chance to eliminate the Pirates, and advance to the Sid Rowe Division final when the series returns to Port Hawkesbury for game five Friday night.
