Mayor says work continues on new animal bylaw

The mayor of Mulgrave says town officials are continuing to work on a new animal bylaw.

Some residents who have backyard farms have been at odds with town officials for months; both sides have held several meetings to try to reach a resolution in the dispute.

CBRM councillors passed their new animal control bylaw Tuesday.

Ralph Hadley, Mulgrave’s mayor, tells The Hawk that may provide them with some guidance moving forward.

“Our CAO is in touch with CBRM,” she says. “(She’s) trying to get that bylaw and see if we can take some wording out of there for ours.”

Hadley says the process has been dragging on too long, but they don’t have a timeline for when their new bylaw could be in place.
