Town officials say improvements coming to Main St. crosswalks

Antigonish‘s mayor says town officials are working to improve visibility at a pair of crosswalks on Main St.

The Antigonish RCMP’s community policing officer has said there have been close calls at the crosswalks at Acadia St. and by People’s Place Library.

Laurie Boucher, the mayor of Antigonish, tells The Hawk the issue was brought up at council, and improvements are coming.

“We are going to try to do something and look at the lines,” she says. “We’re wanting the weather to co-operate so we can get them painted a bit earlier this year.”

Boucher says they’ll also cut back some of the trees in the area to make things more visible.
