Antigonish RCMP say an officer was injured by an intoxicated man on Saturday night.

Police say an RCMP member was getting fuel at a service station on Beech Hill Rd. and was approached by a taxi driver about an unruly passenger.

The officer proceeded to arrest a 25-year-old man for being drunk in public.

RCMP say during the arrest the intoxicated man lost his balance and fell to the ground with another officer who arrived to assist.

Police say the assisting officer injured his wrist and required medical treatment.

They say the man was not injured during the arrest and was released with a summary offence ticket for being intoxicated in a public place.
