Port Hawkesbury‘s mayor says town officials hope to finalize their 2019-20 budget soon.
Officials started their budget deliberations before their previous fiscal year came to a close at the end of March.
After May’s regular town council meeting Tuesday night, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, the mayor of Port Hawkesbury, said they’re getting closer to a finished product.
“We’ll probably have about two or three more meetings and kind of figure out exactly what we want to prioritize for this year,” she said. “Hopefully it’ll be lots of great decisions that are going to grow our town and position it for prosperity.”
Chisholm-Beaton said they hope to pass their budget at June’s regular meeting.
She said she doesn’t want taxes to go up, but it’s too early to say for certain what will happen.
