Suspect in Port Hawkesbury bust has case adjourned

A man charged in relation to a drug bust in Port Hawkesbury is scheduled to return to court in June.

RCMP say officers searched a home in the town in Aug. 2017.

They say they seized dexamphetamine, marijuana, marijuana plants, hashish and other evidence.

James Kenneth MacLean, 54, faces three charges in the case- possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and cannabis resin and production of marijuana.

The Port Hawkesbury man, who entered not guilty pleas, was expected to have a trial date set in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Port Hawkesbury Friday; he’s scheduled for a status update June 14.

MacLean was convicted of three break-and-enter-related charges and two breaches in 2013; he was sentenced to 12 months in custody and 15 months of probation.
