Town officials raise pride flag

The pride flag is flying in the Town of Port Hawkesbury.

The flag was raised during a morning ceremony outside the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre Friday.

After, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, the town’s mayor, said they want to promote inclusivity.

“We’re realizing, more than ever, how it important it is to be an inclusive community,” she said. “Being an inclusive community means that we all are welcome, and that we shall all feel that we belong.”

Chisholm-Beaton said the flag will remain up for the entire Pride Month.

She said they’ll also have three rainbow crosswalks in place around town before the end of June.
