Man arrested following firearms complaint referred to Restorative Justice

A suspect facing a number of charges in relation to a firearms complaint in Inverness Co. has been sent to the province’s Restorative Justice program.

Robert MacDonald, 20, has been charged with a number of offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and break-and-enter.

The Port Hastings man, whose case opened in August, was referred to Restorative Justice during a hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday; he’s scheduled to return to court for a status update May 28.

Police say they received a call a man pointed a firearm at someone at a home in Port Hastings in July.

They say they determined it was a pellet gun.
