Proposed skate park in Antigonish secures funding

The Mayor of Antigonish says it is exciting to have funding to move forward with a new skate park.

Town Councilors found out all the necessary funding park is in place at Monday’s meeting.

Laurie Boucher told The Hawk, it is exciting news, and it shows team work pays off.

“This would not be possible without the cooperation of town, county, the province, the community, the skateboard park association, and Saint FX we would not be where we are today without those partnerships.”

Boucher said the project is long overdue.

“We’ve been looking to do this since we formed our council back in 2016. It’s one of the things we really wanted to accomplish and to be able to accomplish it before the end of our term is exciting.”

Boucher said work is expected to start late next month and the project is expected to cost roughly $700,000.
