Eskasoni traffic stop leads to arrest

Eskasoni RCMP say they received a tip which led to a traffic stop.

Police say four people were in a vehicle that was searched on June 29th.

25-year-old Shaelene Paul of Eskasoni was in possession of a quantity of cash and hydromorphone pills.

Paul was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

She was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in Eskasoni on September 10th.

The other three individuals were released without charges.

RCMP say they are working with the Chief and Council of Eskasoni to address the concerns about drug use in the community.
