Accused vigilante fisherman expected back in court

A man charged in an apparent case of vigilante justice in Guysborough Co. is back in court.

The 52-year-old Ecum Secum man’s trial begins Thursday in Antigonish Provincial Court.

Austin Stillmant Chambers pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily harm in November.

RCMP say one fishing boat operator deliberately rammed his boat into another last May.

Police say it stemmed from fishing license changes in the area, even though no one involved was fishing illegally.

They say they responded to an assault the next night, where the victim was taken to hospital.

RCMP say they believe the incident was related to the boat collision.

Police say they arrested four people in relation to the incidents.
