15-year-old girl from Inverness threatened online

RCMP say a 15-year-old girl from Inverness was threatened online.

Police say the girl’s parents contacted them to say their daughter received threats from someone she met on the internet.

The person claimed the girl would be tracked down and harmed if she didn’t send nude pictures and she eventually complied.

RCMP say she refused a second request and after that the person sent the nude photos to all of her social media contacts.

Police say they’re trying to identify the suspect and it’s possible they will lay charges for extortion and sharing intimate images without consent.

RCMP say they have assistance from their technological crime unit.
