Work underway on Inverness Co. water infrastructure

Major improvements are underway on the water and wastewater plants in Inverness Co.

Council heard an update from the staffer in change of the work at yesterday’s regular council meeting.

After the meeting, Warden Betty Ann MacQuarrie told The Hawk council is happy with the progress so far.

“There all kinds of necessary steps being taken, and things are happening on a regular basis,” she says. ” Water has been an issue, and it’s still rearing its ugly head, water shortages are no fun. People are learning to conserve the best way they can.”

MacQuarrie says there are still water conservation warnings in place in some parts of the county, but says they’re working on solutions.

She says, the completion of repairs and improvements to the county’s water systems will take years.

“Probably within the next couple of years that’ll happen, and then it will continue to be maintenance on a long-term basis,” she says. “And upgrades where necessary as well.”

She says she expects they’ll be done improvements and on to a maintenance schedule within 2 years.
