Richmond Co. drug bust suspect committed to stand trial

One of two women charged in relation to a drug bust in Richmond Co. is scheduled to return to court in August.

Police say members of the Inverness-Richmond RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Richmond Co. RCMP detachment searched a home in Arichat as part of a drug investigation in September.

They say two women from Arichat were charged as a result of that search.

Ann Marie Dorey, 56, and Yvette Landry, 59, faced counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, money laundering and possession of property obtained by crime.

Dorey and Landry elected a Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge-only trial in December; Dorey was committed to stand trial following a preliminary inquiry in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Thursday.

She’s expected back in court to have a date set for that trial Aug. 9.

The Crown withdrew all charges against Landry.
