Suspect in Dalbrae threat has charge withdrawn

A teen charged following a lockdown at a school in the Quad Counties has completed Restorative Justice.

Police say school officials at Dalbrae Academy in Mabou were made aware of an online threat in October.

The threat was made in a post on Instagram; the school was locked down at noon, and remained that way for roughly 50 minutes.

RCMP say no one was hurt, and officers from their Inverness detachment cleared the scene by 1:30 p.m.

They arrested a boy, 16, in relation to the threat.

The teen, who can’t be identified because of his age, was charged with uttering threats.

His case was sent to the province’s Restorative Justice Program in January; he’s successfully completed the program and had his charge withdrawn during a status update in Port Hawkesbury Youth Court Tuesday.
