Local man who served time for sex offenses against children faces charges in Quebec

A 76-year-old man from the Strait Area who served time in Nepal for sexually abusing a nine-year-old boy has been charged in Quebec.

Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh allegedly did not report his location to authorities upon his return to Canada.

MacIntosh pleaded not guilty and is due back in court, in Montreal, September 18.

In 2007 the man was extradited from India to Canada facing 17 sex abuse charges, dating back to the 1970s in the Strait Area, but had those convictions overturned because of delays getting to trial.

In 2014 he was arrested in Nepal, convicted of sexual abuse, and sentenced to prison time in that country.

He was released from prison in Nepal in 2018 and returned to Canada.
