Suspect in Antigonish thefts scheduled to return to court

A man from Antigonish arrested following several thefts in the town is expected back in court Wednesday.

Aaron MacMillan, 21, has been charged with break-and-enter, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He’s scheduled for election-and-plea in Antigonish Provincial Court after the hearing was adjourned in April and May.

Police say officers responded to a theft in progress from an unlocked vehicle on St. Mary’s St. in March.

They say the car’s owner caught the suspect.

RCMP say the same suspect is accused of a break-enter-and-theft from a house on the same street, as well as another theft from a vehicle at StFX the same night.

MacMillan was found not guilty of possession of stolen property following his arrest in relation to a Feb. 2018 car theft in Monastery.
