Local sports preview (Sunday)

The Cape Breton West Islanders host Dartmouth for the second time in as many days in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

Dartmouth won when the teams met in Port Hood Saturday night.

Puck drop at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre is 12 p.m.

 

The two local teams in the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League are back in action.

The Panthers play the Penguins in Membertou at 10:30 a.m.

The teams also met in Membertou Saturday afternoon- the Penguins won.

The Northern Selects are taking on the EDZA West Reds at the Pictou Co. Wellness Centre at 12 p.m.

The Selects won Saturday’s game between the teams.

 

The Cabot Highlanders visit the Basin Armada in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

It’s the second game in as many days between the teams- the Armada won Saturday afternoon.

Game time in Bedford is 3:15 p.m.

 

The Novas play their second home game of the weekend in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

They won against Kings in Antigonish Saturday afternoon; they host the Dartmouth Whalers.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 12:30 p.m.

 

The Cape Breton Eagles host the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Eagles won when the teams squared off in Sydney Saturday night.

Puck drop at Centre 200 is 4 p.m.

 

The StFX soccer teams meet the Moncton Blue Eagles in AUS action at StFX Stadium in Antigonish.

They’re the first- and only- regular season games between the teams.

The women kick off at 1 p.m.; the men start at 3:15 p.m.
