Liquor stolen from Port Hawkesbury business

RCMP say they responded to a break and enter at a pub on Granville St. in Port Hawkesbury on Monday.

Police say the break-in took place between 11 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 Monday morning.

RCMP were told that eight or nine bottles of liquor had been stolen.

They say two suspects were arrested on Granville St. on Tuesday.

Police say both arrests were made without incident and they searched a home and located the stolen liquor.

21-year-old Matthew Charles Dorton of Chapel Island was charged with break, enter and theft, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Dorton was remanded into custody and returns to Antigonish Provincial Court on October 4th.

22-year-old Robert MacDonald of Port Hawkesbury was also arrested.

MacDonald is charged with possession of stolen property and he is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on November 25th.
