Man arrested in Inverness Co. stolen property case pleads guilty

A suspect in a stolen property case in Inverness Co. has entered a guilty plea to one of his charges.

RCMP say they found tools they believed to be stolen in January.

They say officers searched a home on Hwy. 105 in Lexington and seized seven firearms, including a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun.

Police say they also found power tools, generators, chain saws and other tools.

Shannon Francis MacDonald, 23, was originally charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of firearms.

MacDonald, who was released from custody after his arrest, entered not guilty pleas to all of his charges during his first court appearance in the case in March; he changed his plea to guilty on the possession of a prohibited weapon count as his trial was set to get underway in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.

He’s scheduled for sentencing Dec. 16.
