Inverness Co. man facing firearms, drug counts expected back in court

A man from Inverness Co. charged with firearms-related offences and a drug count following the search of a home is scheduled to return to court Tuesday.

Police say officers and members of the Inverness/Richmond RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit seized marijuana, five rifles and ammo when they searched a St. Rose home in Oct. 2017.

Joshua MacNeil, 40, originally faced multiple firearms-related charges and one count of possession of marijuana.

MacNeil, whose case opened in Dec. 2017, had two firearms charges- unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm- referred to Restorative Justice during an election-and-plea hearing in July 2018; the Crown withdrew his remaining firearms counts.

He was also sent to Restorative Justice on the drug charge; he’s expected for a status hearing on that and his two firearms counts in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court after his last update in July.
