Man arrested in Inverness Co. vehicle checkpoint expected back in court in November

A Shubenacadie man charged following a vehicle checkpoint in Inverness Co. is scheduled to return to court in November.

RCMP say they laid drug charges after officers found cocaine, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle in Mabou in Sept. 2017.

The case of Dwight Barkhouse, 36, opened in court in Oct. 2017.

Barkhouse was committed to stand trial following a preliminary inquiry that wrapped up in January; he had a June trial date set.

Instead, he returned to court before his trial to plead guilty to possession for the purpose of trafficking in May; he was scheduled for sentencing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Monday.

His case was adjourned until Nov. 5.
