A number of local nominees are up for Music Nova Scotia awards Sunday night.
The Town Heroes, who are from Inverness Co., lead the way locally with three nominations- Group Recording of the Year, Rock Recording of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year.
Antigonish’s T. Thomason and Cheticamp’s Maxim Cormier are up for a pair of awards each- Thomason for Entertainer of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year, Cormier for Acadian/Francophone Artist of the Year and Educator of the Year.
SHiFT from THA 902 of We’koqma’q is nominated in the Indigenous Artist of the Year category.
There are also several local industry award nominees.
Inverness’ Jason MacIsaac is up for Booking Agent of the Year, the Celtic Colours International Festival is among the nominees for Event of the Year, Stephen “Snickers” Smith of Mabou is nominated for Live Technician of the Year, Guysborough’s Jon Landry is in the running for Producer of the Year, Eirinn Fraser of Orangedale is up for Volunteer of the Year, and 101.5 The Hawk is nominated in two categories- Radio Program of the Year for “East Coast Rising” and Radio Station of the Year.
The awards show will close out Nova Scotia Music Week in Truro, which got underway Thursday.
