MacLean joins Columbus coaching staff

A coach from the Quad Counties has found a new home on an NHL bench.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have hired Paul MacLean as an assistant to John Tortorella, the team’s head coach.

MacLean, an Antigonish native, will focus on the Blue Jackets’ power play.

He spent three-plus seasons as Ottawa’s head coach, including the 2012-13 season when he won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year, and previously served as an assistant in Phoenix, Anaheim and Detroit.
